My Role
Visual Designer
The challenge was to design a comprehensive visual system for a conceptual music festival. With Western music festivals often saturated and repetitive, I aimed to create something distinctive—a female-led, K-pop–centered festival that celebrates femininity and empowerment through experimental design.

Concept

aero::verse is a one day music festival that celebrates the artistry of Korea's most popular 4th & 5th generation girl groups.

Designing for A Music Festival

I sought to encapsulate femininity in a non-traditional way—shaping my design choices through experimental layering that evokes airy, weightless qualities, while introducing a sense of edge through the use of blend modes and sharp edges.

I designed mockups for key branded items, including banners, tickets, VIP lanyards, and event posters.

Empowering Feminity

This project is motivated by the need to explore how design can visualize empowerment and how large-scale cultural events can act as platforms for social narratives. A hypothetical music festival provides a speculative yet realistic context in which these ideas can be spatialized, branded, and experienced.

Reflection

As a solo project for my Visual Systems course, I received valuable critique and feedback from both peers and my professor.

I set out to design a festival concept that I would genuinely enjoy as a consumer, while also challenging the oversaturation of Western music festivals.

By centering a female-led Korean girl group as the headliner, the project aimed to not only celebrate K-pop culture but also encapsulate themes of femininity and female empowerment through both the design system and overall experience.
